Dr. Hlong was among the first set of Montagnaard immigrants to arrive in America in 1986. Leaving a country and culture he is accustomed to, to basically start over in a country that speaks a different language and culture very much unlike his. While he could have settled anywhere in America, he chose Greensboro. For the next 30 years he became an intricate and important member of the Montagnaard community, serving his people and the Greensboro community well.
Today I was honored to join the Montagnaard community in celebrating his retirement.
